Privacy Policy

How we collect, use and protect your information when you use BudgetNest.

Last updated: 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how BudgetNest ("we", "us" or "our") collects, uses and protects your information when you use the BudgetNest mobile app and this website.

This page is for information only and does not constitute legal advice. If you have questions about how this applies to you, please contact us.

1. Information we collect

We collect two main types of information:

  • Information you add in the app – for example: income, expenses, savings, pots, targets and notes you choose to store in BudgetNest.
  • Basic technical information – such as device type, app version and anonymous usage events that help us understand how the app is used.

BudgetNest is designed so you can use it without connecting your bank accounts. If in future we add optional bank connections, they will be clearly explained and entirely opt-in.

2. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Provide the core budgeting features of the app.
  • Show you stats, trends and progress towards your targets.
  • Maintain and improve BudgetNest, fix bugs and keep the service secure and reliable.
  • Communicate with you about updates, new features and important changes to this policy or our terms.

3. How your data is stored

Your data is stored securely using modern cloud infrastructure and industry-standard security practices. Access to production systems is limited to the BudgetNest developer and trusted service providers who help us run the app.

We keep your data for as long as you maintain a BudgetNest account. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting hello@budgetnest.uk.

4. Sharing your information

We do not sell your data.

We may share limited information with trusted third-party providers who help us run BudgetNest (for example: analytics, crash reporting, cloud hosting). These providers are only allowed to process your data on our instructions and for the purposes described in this policy.

5. Cookies & website analytics

This marketing site may use cookies or similar technologies to understand how visitors use the website (for example, which pages are viewed most often). Where required, we will ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data, such as:

  • Accessing a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • Correcting inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Requesting deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").
  • Requesting your data in a portable, machine-readable format ("data portability").
  • Objecting to or restricting certain types of processing.

To exercise these rights, email hello@budgetnest.uk. We will respond within 30 days in line with legal requirements.

7. Children

BudgetNest is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data to us, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we'll let you know through the app or by email where possible.
